Seeing how so very few oss projects move away from Github to Gitea, Forgejo and the likes, I wonder what would make them move to ~Gitstr~?
The thing that keeps projects on Github is the same thing that keeps normies on Twitter and Facebook, the network effect and discoverability.
Not hosting the code on Github comes with a huge disadvantage that almost nobody wants to pay.
I mean I see it myself with my projects on Codeberg: almost nobody cares, no issues, no prs, no interactions. People could log in with their Github account, but they don't even try to.
Another psychological thing is that contributors wanna show off their work on their Github profiles "Contribution activity" feed. It's a popularity contest after all and the contributions count is a social score, important for finding future jobs.
TLDR. Most people will not move away from Github, when ~Gitstr~ becomes a real thing, instead they will move away when Microsoft immensely fucks it up, when popular oss devs move away and when the hacks wanna follow the group to the next grass fields. But surely they will not move to ~Gitstr~, they will move to ~Bluesky Code Hub~ 🙄

The system is based on subversion. Votings are binding, but everything is a question of definition and the meaning of language. If media matrix (mass media) tells the citizen that everything is fine, then everything is fine, even if the house is burning.

Yupp, they surely gonna start using it now for all events, and after a while will conclude "it works, we can let it stay". Meanwhile the town has already been peppered with video surveillance cameras before of these new ones.

Creating a successful FOSS CMS alternative has to be one of the hardest challenges to exist. You have four types of users:
1. Wordpress Maxis - As long as the majority uses Wordpress, they gonna stay with Wordpress.
2. The Wordpress-Fatigued - They learned to hate website creation and don't wanna touch it ever again.
3. The lazy, but Open-Minded - Will ask ChatGPT to build their website.
4. The true artists - Rather code their website from scratch.
So your target audience are the very few people left, who see the potential in what you are creating, which gonna mute you once you start talking about anarchism, freedom of speech and politics 😂.

Even worse if you live in a country like Switzerland where $200 is roughly speaking equal to two hours of your work and are already used up by that two hours bootstrap meeting you had with that surely-not-perfectionist, looking-at-every-pixel, yet very pragmatist client. Lets image a world, where the main feed would not be sorted by creation date, but by the time the client received the note. If the client doesn't have to list the notes by creation date, the client gains the ability to schedule retrieval of new notes, basically setting up short-term subscriptions for X relays, then e.g. 1 minute later for Y relays, then for Z and so on. This could be a tactic to avoid having 100ths of parallel open sockets.
What would be the tradeoff from a UX perspective? You loose the ability to know where to find the most recently created notes, but does that actually matter? You gonna miss out on most notes anyways, unless you are a 24/7 doom scroller 😁.
The other tradeoff coming to mind would be if you wanna read the replies on a note, you have to wait until the client went through all relays... Unless we find a way to somehow tell the client where to look for the replies of a specific note 🤔.

Couple ideas:
- Because you still might need a way to filter out bots. Crypto puzzles don't filter out the bots, it just delays them a bit.
- Because there are not many good, maintained solutions.
- Because most devs do not care about being independent from external services such as Google and Hcaptcha 🙈.
P.S. this comes from someone who created an own self-hosted captcha solution 🤠

Just released Nitropage v0.67 🐛👀. The focus of this one was to fix a couple bugs related to the hmr handling of blueprint settings. Specifically this brings back the ability to add new blueprint settings during `vite dev` on the fly, without having to reload the page editor 😎. This logic was partially missing since the migration to SolidStart v1 🙈. Last but not least the new version includes Tailwind 4.1, Prisma 6.5 and Sharp 0.34!

Or if you wanna delete an email address and first have to manually delete all mails related to it, again 50 at a time.
Proton sucks if you don't follow the very basic workflow they have in mind for you.

1. Justifying your arguments logic with some arbitrary statist rules, doesn't contradict the logic of my arguments. Meaning both of your and my arguments can be logical, and we still can come to different results. That doesn't change the fact that legitimacy is irrelevant in our discussion. If you want big brother certified legitimacy, I'd recommend state propaganda tv stations 😅.
2. Logic has nothing to do with inalienable rights. If inalienable rights were coupled to logic, you could just change the parameters of said logic to take away inalianable rights - which by itself is completely illogical. The point of inalienable rights is that they are inalienable.
3. If an autocrat defines a rule: "if hospital crisis - > then no inalienable rights for the sheeps", then its ofc completely "logical" to take away inalienable rights based on that rule, sure, but that rule itself is completely arbitrary and implementing it is a political decision, not a logical one. Thinking that its fine to take away inalienable rights because of some arbitrary logic, arbitrarily defined by arbitrary experts, payed by the same businesses (pharma) which make profit from said arbitrary logic, yeah sure thats all very logical, but also arbitrary, corrupt, opportunistic, tyrannic, technocratic and anti-humanistic.
4. Hospital bed counts were reduced during the "crisis". Some hospitals even were closed. Statistics were manipulated to get results showing a "crisis". The health care system is broken by design and that since a long time, way before Covid, nobody cared / cares to fix it. Logically coupling the stability of a broken health system to inalienable rights, is a very effective method for autocrats to take away inalienable rights, whenever they want.
But whatever, have fun in your "(ideo)logical" brave new world 🤷‍♀️...

During the most radical months, you couldn't even go to a restaurant toilet if you didnt follow the totalitarian test/jab regime in Switzerland. Restaurants which allowed untested/unjabbed visitors were blocked off by the police. Switzerland had far from a "liberal" regime and media during the plandemic.

Have been fighting with this illness called phantosmia since over ten years, so for a third of my entire life. But instead of it getting better, it got worse and keeps getting worse. This morning alone I already had 7ish phantosmia disturbances and everytime I have to interrupt my work and lay down. Mind you, this is a "good" day, on bad days I have to stay in the bed for the entire day because its that bad. And 2025 so far has had lots of bad days. Meanwhile both of my parents had cancer and mom has it again. Lastly it looks like there's already another healthproblem on the horizon for me . Being unable to work like normal first world country slaves, living in a society that does not appreciate open source projects, and denying help from big brother, is a recipe for disaster.

The issue why there are less maintained, well-alive #foss projects with #freespeech values instead of wokeness, is not because of a lack of talent or determination, but because they don't accept government monopoly money and have to solely rely on voluntary donors. If they don't do that, they either will be eaten by statism or by profit-driven investor interests.

I stumbled upon the sentence "ensure all maintainers push to the nostr remote and not git server directly so that state on nostr remains in sync".
What happens if they don't?
Is there a workflow that allows some maintainers to keep working normally over the git server without ngit, while others do?
E.g. what if my project would wanna accept prs via ngit, gitea and email. Is that feasible 🤔?

Working on FOSS surely feels like traveling over an endless sea, with a sinking ship made out of thin cartboard, just with a single spoon, during a monsoon...
So Codeberg just decided to interpret a stupid, annoying, two-worded spam attack as a far-right attack against their far-left values and Codeberg takes this as a chance to promote a "fight against right-wing forces" (words cited from their blog post https://archive.ph/bvBt0 )
I thought by hosting my projects on Codeberg instead of Github I would support independence and free-speech. But since Codeberg now clearly shows that they are against free-speech, I need to adapt. My projects (especially Nitropage) primary goal is about free-speech and I don't wanna risk Codeberg activists shutting up my repositories, because of right-wing political content published with Nitropage.
Let me know if you know any good, halfway active, non-corporate, unpolitical places to host GIT projects 😅. Maybe https://radicle.xyz ? 🤔)
(I know self-hosting also exists. I'd actually have a Gitea instance, but basically all people are too lazy to register on it and I get absolute-zero interaction on that thing, apart from spam bots 🙄)
