The Nodestrich Node status: Funded! ✅
As of Tuesday, November 21, the funding goal of $500 / 1.4 million sats has been achieved.
Between a combination of just over 725,000 sats raised in the Geyser fund, approximately 175,000 sats zapped via Nostr, and a 500,000 sat contribution from a single party, the new node hardware has been purchased.
In addition, community feedback has been absolutely invaluable during this process, and helped steer the direction of the new node away from the Umbrel Home all-in-one solution to a more powerful standalone computer.
After several days of reviewing a variety of options, we settled on an Intel NUC configured with an i5 processor, 16 GB of ram and a 2 TB SSD, which will allow a path for reliability and upgradeability into the future.
The upgrade will be done with the support of the #Nodestrich community and I plan to host a live Nostr Nest during the process.
Thanks for all your support. This has been an incredibly important part of my education as a noderunner, and I could not have done it without this amazing community behind me.

quoting note1gse…v9k5First off, let me say one word: Wow. 🤩🔥
The support and encouragement I’ve received from this post has been outstanding. For everyone who has donated or offered words of advice and offers to assist with the node migration, I can’t thank you enough.
Between the Geyser and Nostr zaps, we’ve already reached nearly 50% of the goal in just two days. There is also a private offer from a single entity that will cover the remaining amount.
Before I proceed with the hardware purchase, I also want to say that I have listened to all of the feedback I’ve received, both publicly and privately, especially from those who raised concerns about buying an Umbrel Home node-in-a box as a replacement for the current Raspberry Pi hardware. My initial reason for this was to make the transition seamlessly and minimize any potential downtime on the 60 channels I have open, mostly with other Nostr plebs, who are the reason The Nodestrich ♾️ (npub1hxf…5p6t) exists in the first place.
That said, I ran a poll yesterday asking whether to proceed with the initial plan or build a new DIY node and to migrate the existing channels. The results were 85% in favor of the DIY direction.
I helped start this community because I wanted to learn how to become a better noderunner, and not to take the easy path, because as bitcoiners, none of us are taking the easy path. If we hope to set an example for others to follow, we need to always show our proof of work. The process will take longer, the road will be bumpier, and we need to be willing to take calculated risks to get there.
More to follow. note1rau…hf6d
