creator of #fediblock :verified::makemeneko: (npub1u83…r2s5) Heinrich Kramer (npub19c6…n2g5) SuperLutheran (Avignon Half) (npub1tm5…zt6m) this thread has some good posts in it but is also a mess and i saw someone say "catholicism is obviously true" so the collective IQ of the whole thing has dropped

i don't believe God works in the way that poast or nicecrew users seem to universally subscribe to - if he was an iron-fist patriarch why would we have this free will? imho the fire and brimstone isn't an answer, it's telling someone to shut up for asking a question, wondering about this world, exploring - something God clearly wants us to do

one post in here that i got distracted by an eris while trying to re-find said that hell pales in comparison to the pain of separation from God and /that/ i think is on the right track. this universe, our Reality, comes from God, is God, was made by God - but he has withdrawn from it, we live in a pocket inside where we have autonomy, free will. like a little playground or laboratory. we can turn away from God, but it doesn't look like eating meat on fridays or swearing, it's our behaviors that cause us pain, cause others pain, increase pain in the world - withdrawal into ourselves, murder, various flavors of psychic vampirism etc etc. that's the pain that i think matters.

& whether you escape from that pain is the same unfair dynamic that happens with, say, disease. you can discover you have ALS and then die in a month, randomly. you can also never have the conditions line up to be able to figure this out and escape the cycles of pain that dominate your life. there's all this brutal collateral damage of this world we live in, and in some cases (war, the massive debt everyone in america has) it can come from the domination/designs of what seems like this accumulation of evil turned- awayness that seems to rule, but in other cases (ALS) it seems to just be... part of the way this world works. i guess.

anything beyond this universe is transcendent, unspeakable. this was once Eden, then something happened. it's in our social actions, interactions, that we can start to rebuild it or find ourselves in hell imho

but im just an internet retard
