Well said. The overwhelming majority of what me and my family eat is made from scratch, and we generally involve our kids in the process so they develop these healthy habits. There are of course occasional exceptions where we buy something premade or get takeout on a busy night, but these happen maybe only once or twice a month.

One barrier I see that people have is that cooking can be somewhat overwhelming when it comes to coming up with what to eat when they get home from work - we've been doing weekly meal planning for years. This not only helps to save on groceries because we only but what we need as opposed to buying things via a shotgun approach, but it also prevents the early evening panic attack of not knowing what to make for dinner. I think much of the popularity of these food delivery services is that they essentially do the planning for you, but this is certainly something people can do on their own.

Another fun side thing we do is every week, the kids each pick a country on the globe and we make something from there. This adds a bit of fun and variety.
