Gloria Steinem didn't stay quiet, at least for this round. She wrote an op-ed for The Advocate, where she exhorted feminists to honor transwomen and repeated a lot of the lies. She did criticize transsexualism as a concept in the 70s, but she saw which way the wind was blowing and decided (maybe 3 years ago or so?) to protect her legacy.
