This is a problem I see across the design spectrum. There are plenty of designers who puff themselves up like they’re a big shot. And people buy it. Sometimes it means selling books or a speaker slot. Sometimes it means getting tons of VC money for their startup.
If you want to, you can take that route. It’s not that those people are faking it per se, but they’re just overplaying their hand. Any of their contemporaries can easily spot it. Others can’t.
