I think you make a good point. I'd say tumblr round about 2008-2010 was a good example of contamination. All of a sudden there was an explosion of mentally ill people who claimed oppression.
I've seen troonery crawl its way from under a rock to the top of the pile and it's almost like people were taking notes on how to be the most special and fragile of snowflakes. I think if a person believes it hard enough and if it's reinforced enough from the outside then it can come true, even if there's basically nothing wrong with them.
