The reason I am getting worked up about this is that this is a "yelling at the TV" moment for me, because these are very smart people, noticing that ticky-tack policy triangulations like "tacking to the center" without a coherent narrative to drive them make all their spokespeople sound disingenuous and unconvincing to voters, and they sit and think real hard about what might fix this issue, and finally realize it:
