A few ways this could go, I think: (1) enough university and other housing is built that housing costs go down, (2) the university is a commuter college, with students taking BART etc. into the city (but this would not be better than working commuters), (3) the university meets excess demand of existing, largely working residents (but this is basically city college). The best sustainable option seems to be building a lot more housing",
