Essentially, Prusa have _severe_ NIH. They developed the Nextruder specifically for the XL, and have now upcycled it onto the MK4. While lightweight direct drives are nothing new (Orbiter, Sherpa, Sailfin, etc), Prusa won't use them, for various reasons, so they'd have to design their own. This is an outlay of money they're not going to commit, because as their track record shows, they give precisely zero fucks about the Mini. (cont.)
