Et voilá - now you have a professional computer line again, cutting its piece of that growing market, while sales of the #Commodore64 still go up and up. It's a win-win strategy ...
But then, a year later the #Amiga is being released by Commodore. And now the company is having exactly the opposite of the problem they had a year before: now they had *two* professional systems to offer. And that's where the trouble starts, I think.
The company failed to make a distinction between these two options (PC / Amiga) and when the Amiga 500 came along, Commodore management was probably pleased to sell it as a home gaming machine, manifesting an image in the industry that damaged the Amiga as a serious platform. "If only the bucks roll in ..." they probably thought.
