States should be able to force a SCOTUS hearing, with no ability to reject on procedural or standings grounds; if a state says it's an issue, it's an issue by definition. This is a big oversight in the constitution.
Case-law based systems are untenable in a world with computerized paperwork. They will rapidly expand to the point that it's impossible to know what the law even is, and pleading a case becomes so expensive from a research perspective as to nullify any semblance of justice. The US has practically regressed into feudalism, where the King's courts are only for the lords (huge corporations), and your lord's court (contracts of adhesion) has final say over any dispute you have with him (you always lose).
