Property taxes are a big topic. To me, it feels like if there are property taxes, you're renting from the State. The State can dispossess you of your land by just jacking up the tax rates or by requiring a payment method which requires an ID (CBDC?), etc.
I feel more like all the services (roads, fire services, etc) should all be private initiatives. However, if people feel that the State should be involved in that, then I think the Japanese system of juuminzei (住民税) feels like the least evil. It's literally a tax because you live there (whether you rent or own) (if I understand their system correctly). So you live there, you benefit from some services, you pay. That feels more logical to me (again, in the scenario where people wish for the State to be involved in rendering those services).
