It's interesting to think of pacifism as a defense mechanism and it may be superior to mindless retaliation, but I doubt it's the optimal strategy for a breakaway society. I think the capacity for smart, targeted violence is a necessity if you truly intend to leave the system.
A judge won't shut down your operation if the USDA guy who comes out to inspect your farm turns in a glowing report. Being able to neutralize these low-level system functionaries is the key to real autonomy imo
