But thinking about it from their point of view, pacifism & looking for blind spots are the only practical solutions available to them. If they were to retaliate and lose, which they will because they're the Amish, then it's completely over for that entire community. They'll have painted a much bigger target on all Amish.
And it's not like any of us are about to get violent and come to their rescue, no matter how hard we cope over it. At best we're all just waiting it out, hoping for a collapse. Any people that do otherwise will be isolated instances, since the powers-that-be excel at detecting and crushing organized violence.
