npub1g0tuf634rz4suczwj7kgnecr6cyt0eu9xmp3sp0fku68mqehq4msp3tvm4 (npub1g0t…tvm4) I also taught at a university, albeit just for 11 years and before that back in the early 70's studied for my first degree at a 1960's campus university and then part-time for my Masters at another.
The one I taught at was a ex-polytechnic and more of our students were local and home-based. Socialisation with peers still happened.
Of course back in those days we had no or only small tuition fees and maintenance grants, not loans so living away from home was much more affordable.
