I share all of this because I truly believe that the Trump administration's attack on birthright citizenship is one of the most major attacks on the structure of U.S. politics, as it would fundamentally reshape the composition of the electorate.
Yet, in effect, all he is doing is aligning U.S. policy with widely accepted and tolerated European practices on birthright citizenship.
