I believe anarchism, particularly its focus on prefigurative politics – building the world we want to see now through direct action and horizontal organization – offers the most promising path forward. However, we can't ignore the immediate threats we face. Protests and electoral participation are necessary short-term tactics, like applying a tourniquet. It's easier to develop prefigurative anarchist communities within a progressive capitalist framework than under a more repressive fascist regime. These strategies aren't mutually exclusive. Using existing liberal infrastructure to resist this fascist takeover allows us to later refocus on dismantling progressive capitalism and the state through more direct action.
