In that sense, the Mexican State as a project, as well as the Mexican elite, have more in common with the USA or Europe and its elites than with the indigenous people. We learn in school that we are the heirs of Western culture, and learn more about the Ancient Greeks than about the indigenous people (albeit that might have changed with AMLO, I haven't checked the new school books).
