no my body temp is hot all the time so I get hot much faster than normal people but these get hot after a while definitely. the drivers have poor cooling
>I've only heard good things with Audio-Technica, but I already own a set of Sennheiser HD 650, and am about to get an AMP and DAC for. The HD 598 I currently use have been so good for the seven plus years I've owned them for multi-genre listening, even without correct EQ and mixing, which I'm a complete idiot with.
I worked in the industry for a while, I played drums for some bands so I am partial to some over others and will use music I've personally been around for or played drum/guitar/bass for because I was there and I know what it's supposed to sound like and I use that to compare any time somebody asks for me for my genuine opinion. obviously i dont mean the eagles but lesser known bands that have hits I've played on I will test those and generally that's my best "guess" for performance with new hardware.
after testing them for a while, they meet or exceed my reference but for 500$ they aren't really in the same price point at cheaper headsets like the M50x that can do the same with some tweaking. out of the box without tailoring them to your ears and sound profile or preference they just fail to deliver
I have not tried them over cable, I will tomorrow with a direct drive Dual turntable my dad bought when he was my age and a Marantz tube receiver and equalizer that when adjusted for todays costs were about 12,000$ in the 70s and report back but so far I would recommend these headphones to people just not at the current price point
