I sort of understand what you're saying.
For me, lightning is just very opaque. BTC itself isn't horrible to understand or transact in. Lightning, channels, etc. Are all obfuscations without much benefit, IMO, in relation to the cost of exponentially more complexity. A bit more complexity may be necessary for extended functionality, but, the way lightning is structured is a mess, in my ignorant opinion.
