I'm in favour of simplifying the tax system as well, particularly stripping away all the, intentional, loopholes that allow elite interests to significantly reduce their tax burden. Unless we do the latter and prevent tax avoidance, whichever tax system we apply effectively becomes moot.
A progressive system is fairer. But perhaps a flat tax in the first instance would be an easier sell?
