One further thing. Perhaps the worst aspect of running a public Fediverse server are the federation wars. And a federation war is way too easy to trigger.

Running a small server won’t inoculate me against federation wars, but at least I’m the only one who will be affected if it happens.

I’m the only active user on atomicpoet.org. If someone doesn’t like me so much that they’re defederating me, I can live with that. I’m sure someone already has, but I haven’t noticed, so I don’t care.
