Most likely did. What I know and the commonly expressed explanations I've read which focuses on the differences in population density between western peoples and eastern ones caused by differences in staple agricultural crops. The amount of calories that can be cultivated per acre of rice is more than twice that of wheat given that enough water can be sourced to create rice paddies. Differences in animal husbandry I don't understand as much, but Asians ate less meat than Europeans presumably due to some of the limitations imposed by wheat, letting things lay fallow was a greater a concern than with rice since as long as enough moisture was being supplied to the land rice can be cultivated 'continuously'. Other sources of calories are required then, and supplementing it with animals helps.

Perform in what is the thing. If there's harsher selection then there's much less room for sexual selection to take place, there's less need for it since the men who use energy outside of whatever is required for life wouldn't fare as well as those who didn't. What about blue eyes would even be attractive? The sorts of things that decreased pigmentation (and blue eyes are that, even if they're colorful as a result) is something only seen in those with less testosterone than their peers within race. It's something associated with femininity and youth, which could definitely be sexually selected for.

Asians were selected more harshly for their ability to cooperate within groups since their entire lifestyle demanded that sort of ability.
