Yeah, I realized I hadn’t phrased that well. A caregiver also doesn’t get to think of us as burdens, But a caregiver at least has a right to an opinion about whether more resources are needed. We live in a world where culture & laws often privilege caregivers over disabled people in some disgusting ways. What I was trying to get at is “your friend’s opinion about whether you should want to live institutionally is *utterly* irrelevant and should never be uttered.”
