I think that it essentially undermines the whole enterprise. Science rests on being a social system that is internally guided and regulated. Both who shapes disciplinary directions as well as the “inputs” for these decisions stem from professional status ascertained by authorships. \n\nSo, worse than fraud. But I do empathize. The system must be changed.",
