Apple (and to a lesser-extent Google) want to portray a family-friendly brand and like to keep what’s within their ecosystem clean. For example, I know images are blurred by default in Damus, but I suspect that won’t end up being enough (in Apple’s eyes) to prevent a child from seeing porn.
To expand on the above about subscribable lists, if there was a SFW block list enabled by default, but disable-able on the web, I could see Apple passing your app through review and it fulfilling that last requirement.
It would be a compromise for the default App Store experience, but would provide users with a method of getting everything if they so wish. I’m not saying it’s ideal, but I could see that being one possible way through.
