But based on my well-documented reasons for choosing Mastodon at the time, I think if Bluesky *had* been a thing, I might've joined that instead.
As it stands, I'm happy with my choice. Especially with the advent of the Bluesky <-> Fediverse bridge, meaning all my posts land up on Bluesky anyway, and I can follow Bluesky users who have enabled the bridge on their side too.
But lots of Fediverse people are against bridging on principle, and some even choose to block the bridge outright so they never have to see Bluesky users anywhere on the Fediverse. I personally think that's a mistake, but in any event, I also know a few users who have accounts on Bluesky and the Fediverse (and even Threads), and are equally active on both/all of them.
Each to their own, I guess. I just wish that "mainstream" media would actually start acknowledging that we exist. Because they don't; there's been lots of talk about both Bluesky and Threads in the media lately, but only the very very niche publications ever mention the Fediverse. :(
