But even if you aren't in an absurd hyperscaling situation, too often engineers propose savings initiatives that don't have great returns, and most at VC-funded companies need to be returning a lot more than single digit multiplier returns for savings initiatives.
Anyway the comment was really a dig at everyone claiming it's worth running your own data centers for cost, which better be huge savings to not be silly
