The most important thing, I think, is that we let the children be themselves and act more as guides than as instructors. None of us have life totally figured out and we never will. Most parents need to be honest about what that means both for their parenting approach and for their worldview.
Kids are perceptive; they know when I person genuinely has their best interest at hear and when they being fed a line. Just don't BS your kids.
