Our CAD & simulation assets are strictly stand-alone and are NEVER connected under any circumstance. That presents some procedural inefficiencies, but easily dealt with.
What we do have connected operate on VPN's....and thank you for those insights on the phones.
What was super quirky for us was that transition to Ubuntu. That seemed way more painful than it should have been, but that was due to the hardware we had that originally ran on Windows.
