npub1qz2lqynkqj9klq63yaq0qwj5vlq8gn20j9u0e3w8ndavg7k83j2qa2nlrg (npub1qz2…nlrg) You might not believe what I've added to my 50+TiB arrays… and how many BTUs have been generated reprocessing JPEGs (DCT optimization through wavelet decomposition) and PNGs (brute-forcing every combination of zlib compression options to find the optimal).
Some JPEGs get reduced to only 10% of their original size, with no perceptible difference. It occasionally really throws me for a loop.
These issues of IEEE Computer Magazine average ~33% savings. (Or 66% original size.) Adds up.
