I don't know but personally I think thats true of feminists in the west in general. Unfortunately, academic feminists and wealthy non-profits represent us in society. If they fail do to a good job, feminists get a bad rep. I think its true for feminists in general because on one hand we have liberal feminists who promote the idea of "islamophobia": That islamic people are unfairly discriminated and that the hijab and other misogynistic features of islam can actually be "feminist". On the other, we have radical feminists, who at worst agree with libfems to some degree and at best completely ignore the whole issue. Both are failing to tackle the issue. One would think that topics such as mass muslim immigration to certain western countries and its impact is a very important topic for feminists, but in reality thats barely talked about. The only opposition to pro-islam discourse comes from some cancervatives. In fact, feminists are failing to tackle a lot of issues IMO. The movement needs to be more organized, to strive more for representation, etc even unhinged online teenage masculinists have a bigger presence on social media plataforms than we do. Radical feminism remains a very underground thing. That article also said something along the lines of feminists spending too much time and effort attacking the most trivial acts of sexism but ignoring the bigger stuff. This is something I definitely agree
