I strongly advise turning off auto-renewal of any subscriptions you have. It's easy to miss the renewal notices, and you may find yourself paying for another year of something you hardly ever use or look at.
It's even easier for the companies to hugely jack up the price while you aren't paying attention. They have every incentive to do it, however slippery the practice may be, and they do it all the time.
