Well seeing as Lutherans recognize that a valid baptism is necessary for Salvation and your church prescribes which baptisms are and aren't valid, I'd say that's pretty comparable to acknowledging the doctor's knowledge and performance in saving your life. The doctor knowing where and what to cut seems pretty analogous to the Church's role in making sure your relationship to Christ isn't riddled with heresies that lead you from Him. Applying basic understandings of the English language specifically in some areas and not in others just looks dishonest.
