In a context of surgery? Sure, maybe.
But when you're playing with the eternal fate of souls, I'm not going to "have an ideological ax to grind," I'm going to stand up for my *actual* Savior. There are far too many people out there who think if they go to the right church and do whatever required fasting, that gets their ticket into Heaven - and I'd wager most people like that are damned.
