The Magna Carta is a major early written document in English law, though much of it is superceded. English law was imposed in stages in Wales and Ireland, and the Magna Carta eventually applied to them both.
But Scots law was and remains separate from English law within the UK (and was later imposed in full by the UK government in all of Scotland).
