It's how human society works.
My experience of life, both on & off the internet, is that any attempt to create objective standards will be gamed & rules-lawyered, leading to dominance by the most aggressive participants. & that's if we ignore the fact that objective standards are pretty much impossible to achieve - they're always defined by somebody, who will always have biases, & if that definition is done in a group that's dominated by the most aggressive....
