Having read all your suggestions (TY!) & reread several guides, I think the most likely way to "hook" my friend is either with the Seestar S50 or the Vaonis Vespera II. Those look easy enough for even me to set up and operate. I need no add-ons with these, right?

If he falls in love, he has 10x my budget to upgrade to a build-his-own-rig. And if it's merely a novelty, he'll donate it to a local hobby group. Win win
