But selecting "paperless billing" just cancels the utility sending the bank a piece of paper. It does not activate some alternative path. So what it actually means is "no billing".
Three months later, the utility sends me an nastygram complaining they haven't been paid. Because they never sent a bill to anybody, either paper or electronic! So yeah, that'll do it! Just bonkers.
