The dogma around the positive efficacy and safety of vaccines is quite powerful. It’s one of these core beliefs of our societies that often takes a long process of research and questioning to be deconstructed with confidence. The COVID episode certainly helped many to speed up the process but the opposition to vaccines has been around ever since the first method of vaccination called variolisation. Even the Pasteur (the vaccines’ father) was accused of tampering the data on the efficacy and safety of his rabies vaccine.
