I still remember the moment when I realized I had been married to the idea that vaccines are completely safe out of a desire to conform with what others wanted me to believe. I remember when I realized that industries of this size are perfectly capable of lying and convincing everyone of their lies. it was one of the bigger "oh shit" moments of my upbringing. I'm still not married to the idea that all vaccines will kill you in the face and stuff, but I'm very sure now that "experts" are wrong in malicious ways about very important things all the time.
