And that's not including statutory instruments, some of which have been really quite significant, like the ban on single-use vapes (which was dealt with the other day). Yes, I know that actually checking is grossly unfashionable, when you can just go by vibes instead.
Now, I'm not suggesting that anyone should agree with the content of all 26 Bills. Government is at best an act of compromise and at worst an abnegation of responsibility. It is entirely reasonable to object to some or all of these Bills and I'd never wish to suggest otherwise.
But what I do find rather more difficulty with is the idea that they're doing nothing. Clearly, objectively, provably, they've been very busy in Parliament and there's no sign of it letting up.
Of course, I do understand where this comes from. UK political social media is very much led by the nose by the right wing media - so we get endless discussion about plans to remove the single person's council tax discount (not Labour policy, never been Labour policy, invented entirely by the Telegraph), and a complete ignoring of something like the Renters' Rights Bill (currently going through committee and certain to pass soon, after several years of Tory Governments promising and failing to do anything).
I'm not saying that the Government is brilliant and everything they do is right because that's obviously far from the case. There are many reasons to criticise! I would just rather discussion be based on what the Government is *actually* doing - all of which is publicly available - and not so much on what the Tories' media friends choose to promote and what they choose to ignore.
