I think I notice it faster than others because Germans often display the same ethnic self-loathing and this concept of inherited guilt and perpetual retribution.

Also typical is the idea that "everyone good and wonderful, except us".
Or "without us, the world would heal and everyone would be wealthy and happy".
Or "we have to give everything to everyone else, so they will like us".

The people who hate them encourage them to have this mentality, but they would never adopt the same mentality.
