I suspect most of the feeds actually using this tag are from Sovereign Feeds, which adds it automatically, so the number of people even aware of it are quite low. However, we have two goals this tag could be updated to accomplish. Lower bandwidth images, which it already does, and aspect ratio images, which simply adding a height or ratio attribute. (I would prefer ratio and limit it to a handful of ratios) so we can have banner images.
