I agree in theory, but I disagree on that the original poster had to be subjected to be responses, notifications, and other types of potential annoying behavior. Nothing stopping somebody from commenting on a public topic or note on their own. I think the reality of tweets, notes, etc. “going viral” and the overwhelming response that it can trigger goes well beyond what many people may want. Again, every user has their own free speech, but that doesn’t have to include the ability to engage directly, swarm, or bother somebody who doesn’t want to engage. the ease of being able to respond and reply to anybody online can lead to really horrible experiences.

I think Nostr has potential in part because it may be possible to utilize lightning payments for certain types of engagement that people would be willing to pay to participate.
