You know what also just worked easy out of box for Ceph? SUSE. And I have to admit that it's kind of nice to just run SLE or Leap somewhere and have it all just work the same way, because it's actually built from the same sources. Prototyping stuff on Leap and deploying with, say, SLEMicro, etc, goes just how it should go. It's not that RHEL, CentOS, and the others aren't great - but SUSE has a niche where stuff works and less drama in the ecosystem is paying off nicely.
