My accumulation isn't entirely my own either. I had help from family to get started. Living with them and working. With a sudden opportunity to move to a cheap area to finally live on my own. (654/mo for a 2bd) After that I ended up landing a state job cleaning garbage. Am I kinda stuck here? Yeah. I couldn't afford to live on my own back in my hometown where rent is around the value you described. And I can't afford to have anyone else handle my shit (car repair, etc) otherwise I'd be broke and unable to afford my subscription to life. (Type 1 diabetic). But if it wasn't for my grandfather helping me up and the connections I made working sales I'd be in the same rootless city. Living with my parents and barely scraping by to pay for insurance.

I don't understand the pathologic hatred of helping your children start out in the states. As much of a historical abberation striking out on your own is. As compared to multi-generational households in the past. The amount of boomers deciding to donate their accumulated wealth to Africa or some other shithole is appalling. When such wealth might be better utilized helping commit to your family and their extended community.

I won't be repeating the same mistakes, if I can find someone I'm comfortable having children with.
