So sorry to see what's happened at Chimney Rock, it was definitely a funnel down there. Neighbor has a cabin/rental home there, and while he finally hiked in to see it, it's completely cut off.
The photos of beautiful Lake Lure have been heart-rending...
But with so many people helping, progress is being made, as you mentioned. Each day feels a little better.
