This is probably the best presentation I’ve seen of the Golden rule - “within the bounds of wisdom” is a great addition, as well as the focus on tailoring the treatment to the other person, not yourself. I generally prefer Taleb’s Silver rule: “do not treat others as you would not want to be treated”. Subtle but powerful difference that is more scalable… there’s a danger where people can justify harmful actions based on different morals, culture, etc. under the guise of a “superior” empathy
